Wonderful sunrises and sunsets year round and unforgetable moonrises during the dry season´s nights. After a heavy downpour in the late afternoon during the rainy season, you will be amazed by thousands of fireflies (Photinus sp.) dancing in the air at night. The dry season nights are enchanted by the songs of Chuck-Will´s-Widows (Caprimulgus carolinensis), avian winter residents in Panama.

Once a year from May to June, cabimo trees (Copaiba aromatica) found here get full of aromatic white flowers. It looks like snow has fallen down on top of them!

This land has an unfinished Alpine hut and an old irrigation system, including a swimming pool, which needs some updating. There are three small creeks located in deep woody ravines. They have water all year long, free from any pesticide residues whatsoever, for no one has ever used any chemicals in this land.

The land is entirely bordered by the Chorrera river on the east side, with over ½ km of riverside, including a wooded “island” where the river splits into two, forming a piece of land full of trees, bushes and grasses and which belongs to the same property. There is also a sand bank between this “island” and the river where you can walk up and down or around and experience the beauty of the tropical rainforest, under the shade of giant espavé trees (Anacardium excelsum) and at the same time be totally enchanted by bird songs. This part of the Chorrera river has a couple of deep natural ponds where you can swim around or do some snorkeling to watch silurid fish locally known as “cocoches” (Ancistrus chagresi). You can also refresh your feet and legs by walking all the way downstream in the shallow and stony waters whilst watching the rich vegetation, full of lianas. In total privacy, surrounded only by nature, you can relax and forget about civilisation for some time, coming renewed out of this experience.

It also has one water well and three plantations of Caribbean pine trees (Pinus caribaea) and many fruit trees [Coconuts (Cocos nucifera), lemons (Citrus limon), guavas (Psidium guajava), tamarinds (Tamarindus indica), mangoes (Mangifera indica), avocados (Persea americana), soncoyas (Annona purpurea), guabos (Inga punctata), nances or wild cherries (Byrsonima crassifolia), ciruelos (Spondias purpurea), cashews (Anacardium occidentale), etc.]

A lot of harino trees (Andira inermis) have been planted because of their exquisite shade. They also provide flowers (February-June) for the bees, birds and butterflies and fruits (September-October) for the bats. The seeds are toxic to humans but some people use them in traditional medicine.

Considering that the surrounded areas has been heavily altered by humans, this land has become a unique refuge for many species of animals, such as the rare bush dog (Speothos venaticus), pacas (Cuniculus paca), raccoons (Procyon lotor), white-nosed coatis (Nasua narica), wild cats (Herpailurus yagouaroundi, Leopardus pardalis), Neotropical river otters (Lontra longicaudis), grey foxes (Urocyon cinereoargenteus), variegated squirrels (Sciurus variegatoides), three-toed sloths (Bradypus variegatus), common opossums (Didelphis marsupialis), eastern cottontail rabbits (Sylvilagus floridanus), Central American agouties (Dasyprocta punctata), amongst others. The most common animals are green iguanas (Iguana iguana) and nine-banded armadillos (Dasypus novemcinctus). This land is also home to one of the best seed-dispersing mammals in Panama: the Jamaican fruit bat (Artibeus jamaicensis), whose job is very important in the well-being of the forests.

The Panamerican Highway is about 10 minutes away by car, coming to Monte Lirio where you can either go to Anton City on your left or make a turn right towards Penonome City, a short trip taking another 5 to 10 minutes, where you can find food shops, shopping malls, pharmacies, flower shops, beauty shops, vet clinics, banks, restaurants, gas stations, hospitals, schools and other modern conveniencies. The road to get to the property from the Panamerican Highway is quite good, asphalted for the most part.

Nearby, one minute away by foot you can enjoy bathing in the Chorrera river cascades (the Chorro La Chorrerita) or swim in the large natural pond at the bottom of them. And if you want to be amazed by nature, each year in November and December, a massive migration of fishes (Astyanax aeneus, Cyphocharax magdalenae, Gephytocharax intermedius, Pimelodella chagresi, Rhamdia quelen, Sturisoma panamense) (González G., 2008) can be seen on these cascades at dusk.

If you love wild adventures, ask the local people to take you on an exploration trip along the wooded banks of the long and large pond just above these cascades where you may be able to spot red-eared terrapins (Trachemys scripta) and spectacled caimans (Caiman cocodrilus) basking on the sand or tree logs at midday or a common boa (Boa constrictor) sleeping on a thick tree branch. As you walk along, you will hear once in a while a sound as if someone has thrown a stone into the water. It is green iguanas (Iguana iguana) plunging themselves into the river to escape predators! Warning! - Don´t try to swim in here!

Although there is no electricity on site, the main power lines are about 200 meters away in the neighbourhood. Plenty of sunshine year round can be used for solar panels and in the dry season, the constant Northerly Alician winds from December to the end of May could be tapped to power turbines.

Finally, as far as gardening is concerned, you can grow maize, string beans, potatoes, tomatoes, lettuces, sweet potatoes, onions, garlics, cabbages, strawberries, cassaba and other crops successfully, with no problem whatsoever, provided you use organic or inorganic fertilizers. You will have to protect your garden from leaf-cutting ants, though.

Size: 12.5 hectares (30.8 acres), approximately 3 of which are flat zones suitable for farming, the rest is hilly, covered by abundant vegetation (shrubs and trees). This property is composed of two pieces of land (8 has+680.81 m2 & 4 has+4,123.63 m2) to be sold as one.
